Holden Smith announces new hires as firm hits £8.5m turnover

Holden Smith, the Yorkshire and Manchester based law firm, has announced new senior hires across the business and a turnover of £8.5million for its financial year ended February 2026.
Employment solicitor, Steve Esmond, has joined the firm as a consultant and will supports its growing corporate and commercial team across cases incorporating business mergers and acquisitions.
Holden Smith co-founder, James Smith, said: “Steve’s career has focused solely on employment law and his depth and breadth of expertise in everything from TUPE to employment tribunal litigation will be a real asset to the team, helping us to achieve sustained growth in our corporate and commercial team.”
Commercial property solicitor, Adele Walker, has joined the firm’s growing commercial property team, bringing experience in landlord and tenant work.
Co-founder, David Bancroft, said: “Our commercial property team is continuing to experience sustained demand from investors, developers and business owners who need the responsive and commercially focused service that our team can offer, and Adele’s experience in the landlord and tenant space will allow us to develop this service even further.”
Alex Osborne has also joined the firm as private client solicitor, strengthening its expertise across wealth planning and complex estates.
Smith said: “Alex’s experience will help us support high net worth individuals and those with more complex financial affairs more effectively as increasing numbers of clients come to us for a joined-up approach to estate and tax affairs from both a legal and financial planning perspective.
Other recent appointments to the firm include conveyancing solicitor Haider Tarique and family solicitor Romana Ali.
Holden Smith was founded in 2019 by co-directors, Smith and Bancroft. The firm now employs more than 80 staff with offices in Huddersfield, Leeds, Horsforth, Elland, Queensbury and Manchester.
