How to describe your legal matter to us.

This page will help you to describe your legal matter with us. It outlines the key information you should include, including the type of legal issue, your goals, location, the people involved, and any deadlines. This helps us to connect you with the appropriate solicitor promptly and provide an accurate quote.

To help us understand your situation and connect you with the right legal specialist, please use the following five-point structure to describe your matter. Do not worry if you cannot answer all of the points listed; try to give us as much information as you can.

You can write this in an email, an enquiry form message, or tell us over the phone.

1) What type of legal matter is this?

Example: divorce, conveyancing, new build purchase, shared ownership, will drafting, contract disputes, etc.

2) What do you want the outcome to be?

If it is not clear from the type of legal matter you have, tell us what you are hoping to achieve from your case. One or two sentences are fine.

Examples:

  • I want to separate amicably and agree on a fair settlement.

  • I want to buy a new build property and complete it by X.

  • I want to protect my partner and children in my will.

  • I want to sell my company to my management team.

3) Where are you based?

Your town/area.

Example: Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester, etc.

(We work in matters across England and Wales.)

4) Who else is involved in your matter?

This helps us to assess the complexity of your potential case and gain a better understanding.

People you could include:

  • spouse / ex-partner

  • other family members, including children

  • business partners/shareholders

  • property developer, estate agent, mortgage lender

5) Is there a deadline?

If a specific date applies, please include it.

Examples:

  • completion date

  • court hearing date

  • business sale target date

Example message you can send us

“I’m based in Huddersfield and I’m buying a shared ownership new build. I’d like support with conveyancing and would like to complete as soon as possible, as the developer has given us a target date. We’re first-time buyers and want the process to be clear and smooth with updates along the way.”

By providing this information, we can promptly direct you to the appropriate solicitor and begin addressing your matter without delay.
